A look behind the hardware – what makes Lantech strong

From the very first contact with Lantech products, it is clear that the company focuses uncompromisingly on robust network technology. Instead of mass market components, Lantech relies on components and designs that are specially tailored to the challenges of the rail, bus and infrastructure sectors. Heavy vibrations, severe temperature fluctuations from -40 °C to +70 °C, high humidity and electromagnetic interference – these extreme environments are often the norm. Lantech meets them with metal housings, IP protection ratings up to IP67 and galvanically isolated connections.

This focus on longevity and security is also reflected in the software. The configuration interface enables VLAN segmentation, Quality of Service, LACP aggregations, ring redundancy in accordance with IEC 61375 and automatic IP assignment when changing carriages (LTDP). In addition, there are functions such as Smart DHCP, firewall, load balancing and multi-site VPN – everything to avoid interruptions and intelligently network infrastructures.

Managed EN50155 Ethernet switches for on-board networks

In trains or buses, Lantech switches form the backbone of the digital infrastructure. The series – such as T(P)GS and OS3/OS4 – connect several Gigabit ports with up to six 10 GbE uplinks, ideal for data-intensive applications such as video surveillance or passenger information systems. When multiple trolleys are connected, LTDP or ring redundancy ensures that data is forwarded smoothly without any configuration effort. The devices supply PoE power, are galvanically isolated in the event of failure and can withstand high vibration and temperature fluctuations – proven in real test runs in the field.

Unmanaged switches – compact and purpose-built

For leaner scenarios, such as individual passenger indicators or station cameras, an unmanaged switch is usually sufficient. Despite a reduced range of functions, these devices are certified according to EN50155, achieve protection classes up to IP54 and supply devices via PoE, without thread due to management complexity.

Multifunction router – LTE + Wi-Fi + switch in one

Lantech is known for its 7-in-1 EN50155 routers that combine LTE and Wi-Fi with switching, VPN and serial interfaces. Models such as the I(P)WMR-3204DF or T(P)MR-5006 combine dual LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi with mesh capabilities, PoE ports, serial interfaces for Modbus integration and SFP backbones in an IP54/IP65 housing. Quad SIM, VPN load balancing and automatic failover make these devices true all-rounders for on-board use or tunnel installations.

Software & management tools – centralized network control

Each hardware tool includes powerful management systems. InstaAir or LantechView enable network administrators to roll out device fleets centrally, exchange firmware synchronously, call up health statuses or automatically detect VLAN topologies. This means that even a network with hundreds of routers and switches can be managed clearly and reliably at all times.
